Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park has always been the City’s top place for exciting activities. They offer North America’s fastest zip-line, inner-city skiing and snowboarding, downhill mountain biking and the chance to experience a 100 Km/h 4-person bobsleigh in the winter months. It’s always a fun time and the summer months just got more exciting with the addition of Skyline Luge.
I’ve actually tried Skyline Luge on Singapore’s Sentosa island before but Calgary’s track is three times longer. It’s tons of fun speeding down the hill, sitting in a plastic car with gravity taking you down the track.
I took my brother there for his birthday along with my wife and nephew. Our ages range from 19 to 46 and all of us had a blast. We opted for the special three-ride price of $18, knowing full-well that one ride wouldn’t be enough. After payment, you simply grab a helmet and hop on the chair-lift. Once at the top, you’ll receive a brief orientation of how to break and turn. From that point on, you’re on your own, ready to race your friends down to the bottom.
The track itself is 1.8 km in length, providing more than enough time to sample all the twists and turns that drop 100 metres during the length of the course.
Calgary’s newest attraction also happens to be the world’s longest luge track! Take that New Zealand and Singapore!
The company actually originated in New Zealand back in 1985 and has provides this thrill for millions of happy people. If you’re living in Calgary or visiting the area, make sure you take some time to speed your way down the track with Skyline Luge!
