That’s why we’re here with the top spots to enjoy breakfast in Calgary! From classic greasy spoons to elegant restaurants, you’ll find heaps of amazing breakfast bonanzas strewn across the city.
Whether you’re in the mood for huevos rancheros, plain ol’ sunny eggs, or even a curry for breakfast, this is where to find the best breakfast in Calgary!
Benny’s Breakfast Bar
With a name like Benny’s Breakfast Bar, you can be sure that there’s going to be just about all types of Eggs Benny on the menu! We’re talking traditional Eggs Benedict as well as Avocado, California, Latke, Monte Cristo, and even Mac N Cheese Eggs Benny. Since it’s Calgary, however, you may want to opt for the Albertan, which features slow-cooked wagyu beef, Swiss cheese, and onion.
Along with the Eggs Benny, this spot is also famous for its Breakfast Poutine topped with signature red bacon bits, melted cheddar, and two Eggs Benny. Instead of the traditional breakfast sandwiches, the restaurant offers breakfast burgers such as the Benny Burger or the Route 66 Burger, both served on soft pretzel buns.

Breakfast and cocktails? Uhm, yes, please!
Well, that’s along the lines of what you can expect at Queens Breakfast & Cocktails, known for its rustic vibes and hearty portions.
With great service and scrumptious dishes made from fresh ingredients, the restaurant is also famous for its Waffle Nicoise, which features smoked salmon, lemon aioli, fried capers, tomatoes, Queens potatoes, and two poached eggs. For something lighter, you can always go for their Fresh Fruit Parfait, brimming with organic Greek yogurt, homemade granola, and mango compote.
True to its name, the restaurant has an extensive selection of breakfast cocktails like Peach Royal, Raspberry Mimosa, and the Italian Connection, which consists of prosecco, blood orange, and Campari bitter.

Brekkie
Okay, here’s another one we really can’t leave off our list of the top spots to enjoy the best breakfast in Calgary.
One of the best places in Calgary for an early-morning breakfast, Brekkie prides itself not just on its great food but also its community spirit. Weekends can be quite packed so you may wish to call ahead to reserve a spot.
For something decadent, we recommend the Creamy Lobster Newburg, which consists of home-baked puff pastry, soft-poached eggs, and butter-poached lobster, all generously doused in house-made hollandaise and an incredible sherry cream sauce.
Another unique menu item that caught our attention was the Peach Tamarind Pork Belly, which is served on a toasted English muffin. Drinks-wise, the restaurant offers various types of Phil and Sebastian Coffee as well as Champagne Mimosa, Peach or Red Sangria as well as the Brekkie Ceasar which is topped with spicy bean, pickle, and bacon.

ZCREW Cafe
A local friend told us that ZCREW Café is the absolute best breakfast joint in Calgary, and it didn’t take us long to understand why!
After all, this is one of the best breakfast places to savour fresh, farm-to-table dishes. This restaurant only uses seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers. We’re talking organically-grown veggies, free-range eggs…the works!
We were surprised by how varied their menu was. You can expect just about everything from gluten-free rice bowls, bacon wraps, or even Korean Fried Chicken Eggs Benny! Speaking of eggs, we’re huge fans of their Ahi Tuna Avo Brekkie, which features sunny side eggs, seared ahi tuna seasoned with maple syrup, wonton skins, parmesan cheese, edible flowers, Japanese aioli, baby arugula, and house-made avocado sourdough toast. Yum!
Don’t have much of an appetite? Rest assured that lighter options are available, including Avocado Tartine, Poke Bowls, Granolas, and Salads.

Omega Café
Another well-known breakfast place, Omega Café offers a delightful blend of classic Canadian fare as well as Sri Lankan dishes.
All-day breakfast is available and we’ve heard good things about their Breakfast Burrito and their Chocolate Waffle. Other highlights include the Omega Clubhouse Sandwich and the Bunwich, which is a smashed egg with bacon and cheese on a soft bun.
From their Sri Lankan menu, we suggest trying their soy, pork, chicken, or beef curry served with local hash browns, farm eggs, and toast.

Namo Cafe Bistro
We sure hope you’re bringing your appetite because we’re sure you’ll want to taste just about everything on the menu!
A family-owned restaurant, Namo Café Bistro’s motto is to ‘embrace the world on a plate’ – something that’s perfectly reflected in their diverse brunch menu. Local ingredients are favoured and the friendly staff (not to mention generous portions) only adds to the charm of the place.
We’ve heard great things about their Peking Duck Bowl 21, which features house duck sausage, poached eggs, veggies, house Kimchee, Gochujang Aioli, and Hoisin. Everything is served on either jasmine rice and spinach, spinach and potato wedges, or spinach and tots, which is the one we went for.
For something a tad more local, you can always go for their BYO Brekkie Poutine, which stars classic poutine ingredients like cheese curds and hollandaise, but with add-ons like bacon lardons, brisket, fried chicken, and more. Either way, this is one of the top spots for the best breakfast in Calgary.

Holy Grill
If you’re looking for the best spots to enjoy a good breakfast with traditional offerings, we suggest checking out the Holy Grill. This restaurant has three locations across Calgary (Bow Valley, 10th Avenue, and 5th Avenue), which makes it convenient to visit.
Classics features the Wakey Wakey, which is two eggs (cooked however you like) and either Italian sausage or bacon served on toast alongside smashed browns. For something more filling, you can always try the Sliced Rib Eye Benedict, the Brunch Burger, or the Bacon, Avocado Crisp Sandwich. Wash it down with some of their Kombucha and you’ve got a winning combo right there!
The only hitch about this place is that two of its locations are closed on the weekend. If you’d like to enjoy Sunday brunch or breakfast, you’ll have to visit their branch on 10th Avenue, which is open from 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on the weekend.

Galaxie Diner
Open seven days a week, Galaxie Diner is another great breakfast spot that serves all-day breakfast – so feel free to roll out of bed as late as you want!
Established in 1996, this diner has become a favourite among locals and tourists alike. Weekends can get a bit crowded and noisy, with lines stretching out the front door, but it’s all part of the fun. Brace yourself for some serious nostalgia as this place has 40s décor, complete with vintage booths, bar stools, and an open kitchen. It’s also very small, which is why it fills up fast.
The chef and smoked meat specialist, Brad Myhre, has one rule in his kitchen: that real butter and pure maple syrup should always be used! None of that fake, processed stuff here, so you’ll be in for a real scrumptious treat.
Portions are very large so unless you’ve got a massive appetite, we recommend sharing, especially since the diner offers unlimited toast and hash browns. We’ve been here a few times and always love it. Some of our favourite dishes include their Breakfast Burritos, Huevos Rancheros, and their Galaxie French Toast, which features sourdough bread with toasted coconut and grilled banana, served with real maple syrup, fresh berries, and hash browns. They also serve delicious milkshakes with the malt flavour being our favourite.

They’ve got an Eggs Benny Bar, which is as good as it sounds, but if you’re in the mood for something different, we’ve heard great things about their Seoul-Wich, a gloriously decadent concoction that features Korean-style fried chicken on a brioche bun with all the trimmings!
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll no doubt enjoy their Lemon Berry French Toast or Apple and Cinnamon Waffles, which feature spiced apples, graham crumble, chantilly cream, and a side of maple syrup. Yum!
The Bro’Kin Yolk’s got quite a nice selection of drinks too, with options like their popular Lavender Latte, Breakfast Ceasar, and smoothies.

Diner Deluxe
With three locations in Calgary and one in Kelowna, Diner Deluxe is a much-beloved institution in the West.
Not only does this establishment support local farmers, but they always favour sustainable, ethical, and seasonal ingredients whenever possible. Real butter is always used and since most of their dishes are whipped up right there in-house, they can easily cater to most dietary restrictions.
Their Bridgeland Location is open seven days a week. The restaurant doesn’t accept reservations though so it’s a good idea to head there early, especially on the weekends. Outdoor seating is also available in the warmer months.
In addition to the usual classics like Huevos Rancheros, Waffles, and French Toast, the restaurant is especially known for its Breakfast Bowls. Their Super Bowl is filled with ground jalapeno, sauteed mushrooms, chorizo sausage, avocado, and basil hollandaise, all of which can be washed down with a Brunch Martini.

With a chef who grew up in Italy, you can be sure that OEB Breakfast Co. can titillate those tastebuds every single time!
This establishment is so coveted that in addition to Calgary, it’s also got branches all over Canada and in the United States. Because it’s so popular, you’ll probably need to wait a bit to be seated but according to the reviews, the food is worth the wait.
They’re known for their extensive breakfast menu (compared with a relatively small lunch menu), so you’ll find plenty to choose from. In addition to their decadent options, they’ve also got lighter and healthier stuff like Chia Seed Pudding and the Artisan Bagel Sammy, which features two free-run eggs, guacamole, micro watercress, and white truffle on an artisan bagel, served alongside fresh fruit.
Now, if you don’t mind the calories, you can always try their Do Not Even Go There dish that combines French-style crepes smothered in fresh whipped cream, vanilla custard, banana, berries, pistachios, and almonds. Oh, and let’s not forget the Quebec maple syrup on the side! That’s practically a necessity when it comes to the best breakfast in Calgary.
