1. The Ultimate Diaper Bag

If you’re looking to stay organized while travelling with kids, products from No Reception Club are absolute game-changers. Thoughtfully designed with families in mind, their bags make packing, airport transitions, and everyday outings significantly easier.

Why we love them:

  • Keeps diapers, wipes, snacks, and clothes separated and easy to grab
  • Helps reduce overpacking
  • Meets airline personal item size requirements
  • Perfect for carry-on organization
  • Durable and versatile designs (options for the whole family)

Their lineup includes some incredibly practical travel bags:

  • The Getaway Bag: An award-winning diaper backpack designed with multiple compartments, smart access points, and flexible organization. It makes finding what you need quick and stress-free. It includes:
    • An insulated lunch bag
    • Two detachable stroller clips
    • Two customizable interior shelves
  • The Sidekick Fanny pack: One of the smartest inventions for quick diaper changes. It holds all your changing essentials while keeping your hands completely free — and it includes a portable changing pad. For extra savings, you can bundle it with The Getaway Bag.
  • The Hideaway Carry-On Duffel: The easiest carry-on to pack. You can skip traditional packing cubes thanks to its removable packing organizer with five customizable sections, plus a separate laundry sack. It’s incredibly efficient and family-friendly.

Add-On Accessories:

  • The Dopp Kit is compact yet spacious enough for your child’s hygiene products and medications. It features a see-through front window and interior mesh pockets so you can quickly find exactly what you need.
  • The sliders are the ultimate accessory for hyper-organization on the go. This set of four colour-coded packing organizers keeps all those tiny but essential kid items neatly grouped.

When it comes to stress-free baby travel, organization truly is everything.

2. Lightweight & Compact Stroller

If you’re searching for the best compact stroller for travel, the Ergobaby Metro 3 All-In-One Compact Stroller checks every box.

Benefits:

  • Compact fold (carry-on friendly for most airlines)
  • Smooth ride for city travel
  • Near-flat recline for on-the-go naps
  • Lightweight and easy to lift

One of the biggest features to look for in a travel stroller — beyond weight and size — is a fully reclining seat. The ability for your child to nap comfortably while you continue exploring is a total game-changer. It means no rushing back to the hotel and no disrupted schedules.

Based on our experience, we loved the thoughtful design, overall quality, and how competitively priced it is compared to other compact strollers on the market. It’s practical, comfortable, and genuinely built for family travel.

If you’re not planning to bring your stroller on the plane and will be gate-checking it instead, make sure to use a stroller travel bag. It helps protect your stroller from dirt, damage, and general wear while it’s being handled and stored underneath the aircraft.

It’s a small investment that can make a big difference in keeping your stroller clean and in good condition, especially if you travel frequently.

3. Lightweight Car Seat

It’s always a big debate when deciding whether to travel with car seats. They’re typically heavy, bulky, and inconvenient to carry, especially when you’re travelling with twins.

If you’re only planning a very short ride to your final destination, you might be tempted to skip it. But beyond convenience, using a car seat is ultimately about safety. In the event of an accident, a properly installed car seat can truly be the difference between life and death. That peace of mind is worth planning for.

Thankfully, we found the Cosco Scenera NEXT, widely considered one of the best lightweight travel car seats.

It’s affordable, lightweight, and compact (just 17” wide), making it ideal for:

  • Rental cars
  • Taxis and rideshares
  • Small vehicles
  • Airplane seats (FAA-certified)

It supports rear-facing (5–40 lbs) and forward-facing (22–40 lbs) with a 5-point harness system, and includes side-impact protection and machine-washable fabric.

If your child has their own airplane seat, bringing their car seat not only keeps them more secure during turbulence but also makes sitting — and especially napping — much more comfortable. Familiar seating can make a huge difference on longer flights.

To keep the car seat as clean as possible during travel, I highly recommend using a car seat travel bag. It protects the seat from dirt and damage at the airport and makes it easier to carry. I haven’t found one that fits absolutely perfectly, but it’s close enough and definitely gets the job done.

4. Baby Carrier

A baby carrier is one of the most important travel essentials for newborns. The Ergobaby Embrace Cozy Newborn Baby Wrap Carrier combines the coziness of a wrap with the structure of a carrier.

Why it’s great for travel:

  • Lightweight and compact
  • Keeps baby close and secure in crowded areas.
  • Hands-free convenience
  • Comfortable for long walks or sightseeing.

We used it for naps on the go, getting on and off airplanes, skipping bulky strollers in tight spaces and when hiking.

5. The Best Baby Sleeping Bag

Sleep routines matter — even on vacation. The Woolino Sleeping Bag is designed to give your baby the best night’s sleep possible, keeping your little one at the perfect body temperature throughout the night, year-round.

Plus, you don’t need to purchase multiple sleep sacks as your child grows. One size will fit your baby for 2 years.

Why parents love it:

  • Made from breathable merino wool
  • Temperature regulating (great for varying hotel room temps and seasons)
  • Eliminates the need for multiple TOG ratings
  • Supports safe sleep

It’s one of the smartest baby sleep travel essentials you can pack.

6. SlumberPod Blackout Tent

Whether your baby is sensitive to light or not, the SlumberPod Blackout Tent is truly revolutionary. It’s a portable blackout sleep canopy designed to fit over standard playards, mini cribs, and toddler travel cots, making it especially helpful for room-sharing while travelling.

Our babies can technically sleep with the lights on, but we can’t deny that a dark sleep environment noticeably improves sleep quality. Even better? Being able to turn on the bedroom lights after their 7 p.m. bedtime without worrying about waking them is an absolute game-changer. It gives parents back their evening while still protecting the baby’s sleep routine, and that’s priceless when travelling.

Why it’s a travel essential:

  • Creates a dark sleep environment anywhere
  • Fits over playards or mini cribs
  • Improves nap quality in bright hotel rooms
  • Helps maintain bedtime routines
  • Portable (designed to fit into standard carry-on luggage when disassembled)

If you’re looking for the ultimate baby sleep setup while travelling, I highly recommend the SlumberPod Sweet Dreams Bundle. It includes the blackout tent, the SlumberPod Fan for added airflow in warmer climates, and the SlumberPod Sound Machine — which is personally my favourite (see more details below).

It’s a complete, stress-free sleep solution that helps recreate a consistent bedtime environment wherever you are.

7. Baby Sound Machine

My ultimate tip for naps and bedtime, especially while travelling, is bringing a sound machine. Not only does it create a calm, restful environment and help drown out background noise, but it also becomes a consistent sleep cue for your kids. When you’re in a new place, that familiar sound signals that it’s time to wind down and sleep.

Benefits:

  • Promotes longer sleep stretches
  • Creates familiar sleep cues
  • Compact and portable
  • Helps babies adjust to new environments

We initially used the Dreamegg White Noise Machine, and it worked perfectly for us. Later, we tried the SlumberPod Sound Machine. It’s a bit pricier, but I love that it includes a soft light (so helpful when you need a soft glow at bedtime) and offers more sound options.

Both are great, but having that reliable white noise — no matter where you are — truly makes all the difference for better sleep on the go.

A white noise machine is a top-ranked baby sleep travel product for a reason.

8. Baby Monitor

Peace of mind while travelling is priceless — and a reliable baby monitor makes all the difference, especially in hotel suites or when your baby is napping in a separate room.

Our go-to is the VTech Upgraded Smart WiFi Baby Monitor VM901. It allows parents to monitor locally without WiFi using the included parent unit, or remotely through a secure internet connection on your phone, which is incredibly convenient while travelling.

One feature I especially love is the remote pan, tilt, and zoom. It’s extremely helpful when you’re trying to find the perfect placement for the camera in a new space, so you can clearly see your baby without constantly going back into the room to adjust it.

Benefits:
  • Remote viewing on your phone via WiFi or with the included monitor
  • Fully remote pan, tilt, and zoom
  • Clear night vision
  • Two-way talk
  • Large display screen

It’s one of those travel essentials that gives you confidence to relax a little — whether you’re enjoying dinner in the next room or unwinding after bedtime.

9. Inflatable Baby Bathtub

Hotel sinks aren’t always practical, and showers can be slippery and unsafe for little ones. The PandaEar Inflatable Baby Bathtub provides a clean, secure bathing space anywhere you travel. It’s also very affordable, which makes it an easy addition to your packing list.

We used it frequently until our babies were able to stand confidently in the shower on their own (always with rubber sandals for extra grip and safety).

Benefits:

  • Lightweight and packable
  • Easy to inflate and deflate
  • Comfortable and secure for the baby
  • Great for hotels, Airbnbs, or visiting family

It’s a simple solution that makes bath time stress-free while travelling, especially for longer stays.

10. Baby Travel Feeding Essentials

Feeding on the go requires a little planning, and having dedicated travel feeding essentials minimizes mess while keeping your baby happy between flights, long drives, and sightseeing adventures.

Here are some of my go-to baby travel feeding essentials:

  • Bibs: My favourites are non-toxic silicone bibs with a built-in catcher. They’re easy to wipe clean, feature an adjustable neckband, and the deep pocket catches the bites that miss the mouth — so they don’t end up on the floor (or your lap).
  • Tableware: Lightweight dishes and utensils made from non-toxic silicone are ideal for travel. I always look for plates and bowls with suction bottoms to prevent them from sliding, tipping, or being tossed onto the ground.
  • Spill-Proof Snack Containers: Self-explanatory — but essential. They allow little hands to grab snacks independently without dumping everything out at once.
  • Food Pouch Tops: Food pouches are one of the most convenient snacks for kids — easy to find, easy to pack, and perfect for travel days. The downside? They can squeeze and spill everywhere. A soft silicone pouch topper with a flow-control valve prevents spills while your child holds it, making snack time much less stressful.
  • Trainer Cup: The Munchkin Miracle 360° Trainer Cup is a travel favourite. It eliminates spills, and many dentists recommend it to support healthy oral development. The easy-grip handles are perfect for little hands, especially on the go.
  • Baby Formula Container: Pre-portioning formula makes bottle prep quick and efficient — particularly helpful during flights or long road trips.
  • Collapsible Baby Bottles: Collapsible silicone bottles save valuable diaper bag space. You can also travel with extra silicone inserts, which reduces the need to wash bottles constantly while away.

For bibs, tableware, and snack containers, I personally love Lalo Products. Their products are made from non-toxic materials, come in beautiful, modern designs, and offer a wide variety of functional options for families.

11. Portable High Chair & Booster Seat

Restaurants and family visits instantly become easier with a portable booster seat — especially when you have twins, because there’s really no such thing as “you watch one while I eat.” Everyone needs a safe place to sit at the same time.

While there may be fancier portable high chairs or separate booster seats on the market, I personally love the affordability, versatility, and compact size of the Bright Starts Pop ‘N Sit Portable Booster.

What I love most are the three modes of use:

  • Floor seat
  • Feeding seat with a removable tray
  • Toddler booster seat

It’s perfect for days out, camping trips, visits to grandma’s house, vacations, and so much more.

Why it’s great for travel:
  • Folds compactly
  • Includes a carrying bag
  • Easy to wipe clean
  • Doubles as a floor seat

It truly is a lifesaver for maintaining mealtime consistency on the road.

To be completely honest, we did notice the fabric starting to wear slightly at the top and bottom over time. However, it’s nothing a simple clothing patch can’t fix — and considering how much use it gets, the value and practicality still make it worth it for us.

12. Travel-Friendly Toys

Keeping babies entertained is essential for smooth travel days. Let’s be honest — unless they’re sleeping, babies need constant stimulation. That’s why having washable, compact, and engaging toys is a true baby travel essential.

Every family’s toy list will look a little different, but you can browse my favourite Baby Travel Toys on Must Do Canada’s Amazon Page — we’re constantly updating it with practical, parent-approved finds.

Best toy types for travel:
  • Suction toys for airplane windows (perfect for flights)
  • Sensory toys
  • Small stacking cups

I always recommend packing a mix of familiar favourites (for comfort) and a couple of new surprises (for novelty and longer engagement).

One of my best organization hacks? Use a hanging toiletry travel bag to store toys. It allows you to separate and organize items by category, hang it on the back of the front seat for easy access during flights, and the clear compartments make it quick and simple to grab exactly what you need — without digging through your entire diaper bag.

13. Other Handy Essentials

The list of baby travel essentials can be as long as you want it to be. While not every product is absolutely necessary, many of them can make your travel experience significantly smoother and less stressful. You can find all of these on our Baby Travel Essentials List on Must Do Canada’s Amazon page.

Here are a few extra items that made a big difference for us:

  • Travel Size Drying Rack with Bottle Brush: When my babies started solids, I often travelled with food pouches so I could offer more nutritious, age-appropriate meals. A compact drying rack and bottle brush allowed me to wash bottles and dishes in any hotel bathroom. Just don’t forget to pack a small bottle of dish soap.
  • Antibacterial Hand Wipes: I use these not only for hands but also to wipe down surfaces — especially on airplanes. I’m not overly germ-conscious, but I am mindful of high-touch areas that can be quite dirty. Thankfully, despite extensive travel, our kids haven’t caught any major viruses. A little extra caution goes a long way.
  • Pacifier & Bottle Wipes: A portable, convenient solution to safely clean pacifiers, bottles, teethers, cups, toys, and feeding spoons when you don’t have immediate access to soap and water.
  • Milk Cooler: If you’re exclusively formula feeding, this may not be necessary. But for breast milk storage while travelling, a reliable milk cooler can be incredibly helpful.
  • Milk Warmer: This one might feel like a luxury, but for us, it was worth it. My babies especially loved a warm bottle before bedtime — it was soothing and helped maintain their nighttime routine, even while away from home.

Sometimes it’s the small comforts that make the biggest difference when travelling with little ones.
