TRAVEL
FLIGHT SEARCH
When looking for flights, the first place I check is Skyscanner. It basically searches all the flight search engines and displays them all for you. Whether you want the cheapest or the most direct, you'll find it here. Once you see the best options, it's worth checking direct as well.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
One thing we recommend everyone get when they travel is insurance. If your trip is short, you may already be covered with your credit card, but if not, no one beats World Nomads. They're easy to use, offer excellent coverage, and can all be done online.
CAR RENTAL
We love road trips and when travelling in Canada and the USA, we always rent a car and hit the open road. We've noticed that we always get the best deals using Rentalcars.com. Don't wait until you get to the airport. Always book in advance for the best deal!
VACATIONS
If you're looking for a search engine that searches for everything from hotels to vacations, this is a good option. In the end, most search engines offer similar things, presenting you with a range of options for all your travel needs.
ACCOMODATION
HOTELS & GUESTHOUSES
If you're looking for hotels and other types of accommodation, we recommend booking.com. You can always double-check with Expedia or other platforms as well but booking.com tends to be the best.
PRIVATE HOMES
If you're looking for something truly unique or maybe even luxurious, like a lakeside house in the Okanagan or a mansion looking out over the Pacific Ocean, this is probably the best place to find it.
HOTELS
When booking hotels in major cities, we LOVE using Priceline. Why? Because it allows us to bid on hotels, selecting the star-grade and location. We've saved up to 75% in the past. However, you can also use it for normal bookings too.
TOURS
TOURS
If you're looking for a range of tours in Canada and beyond, this is one of the most popular options for finding them. .
TOURS
Another great option for finding tours across Canada, whether a helicopter flight over Niagara Falls or a bus tour through the Canadian Rockies, is with Viator.
REVIEWS
If you're just looking to get general reviews about a place or a tour, there's no bigger platform than TripAdvisor. Just be careful when looking at reviews and make sure you get a variety. Some people are just negative about everything.
TRAVEL GEAR & PRODUCTS
WOODEN WORLD MAP
A beautiful piece of art that shows your love for travelling.
Last year when we moved into our apartment in Calgary, we wanted to showcase our love for travel and all the countries we've been too. We found this 3D world map made out of wood and ordered it from the Ukraine. It looks AMAZING!

ICE CLEATS
A low-cost investment to stay safe in the winter.
If you're exploring Canada during the winter months (or you live here), ice cleats are a great low-cost investment. They make it much safer when walking on slippery surfaces such as snow and ice. These are good for walking around city streets or going on a winter hike. They're also designed in Canada.
OUTDOOR GEAR
Everything you need for the Canadian Outdoors!
Although Canadians are angry at the recent sale to a USA company, MEC has been a treasured outdoor gear shop across Canada for decades. Whether you're looking for camping gear, sports equipment, or a headlamp, they have it.
OUR AMAZON STORE
Our favourite products from Amazon!
The easiest and quickest way to find what you need. This is why we love buying from Amazon.
Now we have a store and we're happy to continue recommending some of our favourite products (travel and not travel related).
CAMERA GEAR
THE ALL-IN ONE CAMERA BAG
Designed by one of the most famous Canadian photographers.
We've tried a lot of camera backpacks so far but one of our favourites is the 35L McKinnon Camera Pack by Nomatic. What's cool about this backpack is it can also be divided up to carry some clothes as well, making it a great weekend photography bag.
BEST-RATED VLOGGING CAMERA
With the best auto-focus in the market!
Since the beginning of Must Do Canada, we've been using Sony mirrorless cameras to take both photos and videos. We started with the a6000, moved to the a6300, and now we have the a6600. Anything from the a6100 series and up is a great camera for vlogging and photos.
OUR FAVOURITE LENS
18-105mm
It's worth the investment in exchange for more value and less weight!
When it comes to video, this is the best overall lens for the Sony a-series cameras. It's 18-105mm, which gives you a lot of flexibility, but the reason it excels for video is that the zoom is done internally and the aperture is fixed, which is super useful when use it on a gimbal (the weight distribution won't change).
