Becker’s Chalets | Best Places to Stay in Jasper, Alberta

October 9, 2016 By Matthew G. Bailey 1 Comment

Beckers Chalets Jasper

Situated right next to the Athabasca River, just 10-minutes outside the town of Jasper lies Becker’s Chalets. These chalets are nestled in rocky mountain paradise. Not only does the river flow by but there’s also a massive park complete with a kids playground. Our chalet actually opened out onto the park and every morning we’d see Canadian geese munching on the grass. On one morning, we even saw a herd of Elk munching on the grass. Maybe we should have tried it? Must have been a great breakfast.

Inside our chalet was a kitchenette complete with a fridge, stove, and microwave. We had an electric fireplace (some have a wood fireplace), a couch, a small TV, and a separate bedroom. For me, the bed was the best part. It was VERY comfortable and the pillows were just right. Not too big, not too small. We slept great and that doesn’t happen very often for me.

I love accommodation that’s just outside of the city, especially in a place like Jasper National Park. You’ll have better opportunity to see wildlife and you’ll have a better view of the stars. Actually, we saw the Northern lights on our first night. How incredible is that?

Overall, I highly recommend Becker’s Chalets. It’s a peaceful quiet place and I can’t imagine a better place for families thanks to the on-site playground. There’s also a beautiful on-site restaurant where you can find a buffet breakfast or a gourmet dinner (if booked in advance).

Next time I come though, I want one of the cabins facing the river. There’s nothing better than waking up in the morning and opening up your door to a turquoise river with mountain peaks looming overhead. Does it really get any better?

FUN FACT: Mariyln Monroe stayed at Becker’s Chalets during the filming of “The River of No Return” back in 1953!
