Dinner at Evil Dave’s Grill in Jasper, Alberta

After another day exploring gorgeous Jasper National Park, including a walk on the Columbia Icefield Glacier and Skywalk, it was time for another gourmet meal. After looking at the best restaurants in Jasper via TripAdvisor, we decided to make reservations at Evil Dave’s Grill.

Evil Dave’s is a locally owned family restaurant serving up a globally inspired menu of “wicked food” with fresh ingredients and creative flare. In all honesty, as soon as I saw appetizers like Crazy Calamari and Lollipop Shrimp, I was sold.

Best Food in Jasper Alberta

Evil Dave's Crazy Calamari

My family and I showed up and we’re sat at a nice table in front of an electric fireplace. We were hungry so it didn’t take long for us to order food. I ordered the Cowboy Sushi, which consisted of grilled tenderloin rolled in sushi rice and nori, lightly battered and fried, and topped with wasabi aioli. I’m not a big wasabi fan but it was very mild so it simply enhanced the flavour. We also ordered the Luscious Lollipop Shrimp, which were incredible. Four coconut battered shrimp with red currant, sweet chili, and mango mayo sauces. Need I say more? The only thing I wanted was more! So good. In addition, we ordered the Crazy Calamari, which was made up of a whole calamari tube, scored, dipped in cornmeal and fried. It was served with housemate tortilla chips, fried jalapeño rings, sautéed pineapple, red pepper, red onion, and carrot slaw. I’m a big fan of calamari and this was very good even though I prefer it a little more crunchy. The accompanying sauce was sweet and spicy was very, very good.

Diabolical Tenderloin Evil Dave's Grill

Evil Dave's Grill Malicious Salmon

For mains, we ordered the Diabolical Tenderloin, a 6-ounce AAA Alberta beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes, pico de gallo and red wine demi-glace as well as the Malicious Salmon (their signature dish), which consists of blackened Atlantic salmon drizzled with sweet curry aioli, on jasmine rice with seasonal vegetables. Both were “wicked” with my favourite being the Diabolical Tenderloin. The salmon was cooked perfectly and went great with the sweet curry aioli so I can see why it’s their signature dish…I just love a good tenderloin.

By this time, we were getting full but couldn’t pass up dessert so we opted for their raspberry Cheesecake to complete the three-course meal. It was smooth and delicious. I wouldn’t say it was anything special but it was exactly what you’d expect from a Raspberry cheesecake and the small portion was just right for indulging the sweet tooth without feeling like a balloon. All in all, it was a delicious meal!
